Everything you need to get started with Caring AI.
What is Caring AI?
Caring AI is a local AI assistant that runs entirely on your computer. It powers the AI features in the CareHub browser extension — page summaries, email drafts, smart actions, and more.
Nothing leaves your device. All AI processing happens locally. No cloud APIs, no data collection.
Quick Start
1. Install the companion app
Download from the Downloads page and run the installer.
2. Download a model
On first launch, open the dashboard at http://localhost:11435 and click Download on your preferred model. We recommend Caring AI Pro for most users.
3. Open CareHub
The CareHub extension detects Caring AI automatically. You'll see "Caring AI" in the AI status indicator.
Models
- Caring AI Lite (2.4 GB) — Fast answers, summaries, drafts. Works on any modern laptop.
- Caring AI Pro (4.7 GB) — Advanced reasoning, chat, function calling, smart actions. Recommended.
- Caring AI Max (4.9 GB) — Maximum capability. Best with 16 GB+ RAM.
Dashboard
Once the companion app is running, access the dashboard at:
http://localhost:11435
From here you can start/stop models, download new ones, adjust settings, and view the server log.
CareHub Integration
CareHub automatically detects the Caring AI companion app. No configuration needed. If you want to manually set the provider:
- Open CareHub sidebar → Security tab → Settings
- Under Caring AI, set Provider to "Caring AI Server"
- If the companion app isn't installed, CareHub falls back to Browser AI automatically
System Requirements
- OS: macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon or Intel) / Windows 10+ (64-bit)
- RAM: 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended
- Disk: ~3–5 GB for the app + model
- Browser: Chrome or Edge with CareHub extension
Troubleshooting
- CareHub shows "Browser AI" instead of "Caring AI" — Make sure the companion app is running. Check
http://localhost:11435/health
- Model download stuck — Check your internet connection. Downloads can be resumed by clicking Download again.
- Slow responses — Try Caring AI Lite for faster inference. Close other memory-heavy apps.
